Poem: A Cloudy Day (December 22, 2013)

A Cloudy Day

it does not dazzle me
like a good photograph without flash
that captured secret expression
of the people in the frame

a boundary between
the dim apartment and cloudy outside
was blurry
so we stepped outside with no surprise

I love cloudy days
because it is not a question
of black or white
don’t have to decide I just stay

the clouds got too heavy
some rain had to fall
we stayed under a porch
some children kept playing under the rain

Sun dissolves equally
over the sky on a cloudy day
like a government offering
food stamps to the poor

worship for love
like Sun shining above the cloudy sky
I know it is there
and love is everywhere- in the dispersed light

transparent water darkened
stems of the trees
squirrels’ feet must be wet
we probably sit on green lawn on one sunny Spring

a truth was different
from every detail-
it is not glaring or soaking us
I am happy he loves cloudy days, too!
